4 Reasons To Attend A Conference

There are so many reasons to attend a conference, retreat or live event, but unfortunately there are so many things that hold us back from doing it. Some of those things include money, time, location or just the fear of leaving our comfort zone.

I personally have experience massive success by attending conferences, retreats and live events and have seen how much it has positively impacted my life and business. So today I thought I would share some of my personal reasons to attend a conference.

#1 Networking & Building A Tribe

Have you ever heard someone say “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know”?

Well my friends, that person is correct. Connections are powerful and could lead to new opportunities. According to Linkedin 85% of jobs are filled via networking. So if attending a conference to network gives me a better chance at getting new business, sign me up!

Also with getting new business you also gain a larger network of individuals in your industry that you can turn to for questions, advice and overall support. Having a supportive tribe has also been an essential reason my business has grown and I am always looking to gain new tribe members!

#2 New Business/ Collaborations

I’m a firm believer that when you attend a live event like a conference it will pay for itself. What I mean by that is through the connections you make, content you learn or just getting your name out there it will turn into new business or collaborations that will ultimately cover your ticket cost. Almost every conference or live event I have been to I have seen the ROI (return on investment).

The first entrepreneur retreat I went to in 2017 was $665 and with the connections I made there I ended up making that money back and plus way more. To this day I am still getting new business or collaboration opportunities from the other attendees I met at that retreat 2 years ago.

One important thing to note is you may not see the business opportunities pour in right away. But if you take the time to network and keep in touch with the other attendees you will eventually see it.

#3 Gain More Knowledge

Though this is an obvious one, it is also often overlooked. When you immerse yourself in an experience you tend to retain information better and feel more inspired.

A lot of people will argue they can get the same information through free webinars and inexpensive online classes. But how many times have you signed up for a webinar to only halfway through and give it because you have other things to do? When you are immersed in a conference without distractions or your laptop in front of you, you will focus more and gain deeper knowledge.

#4 Become Inspired

This may be a less obvious one, but a big reason to attend a conference is to get outside of your everyday routine and become inspired. When we lock ourselves up in our offices all week long and attend the same meetings at the same coffee shops – we are not introducing ourselves to anything new.

When you attend a conference, retreat or live event you are opening yourself up to new ideas, perspectives and concepts that will inspire you in your own life and business. And nothing beats coming home from an event and feeling fired up and excited!

Those are my 4 reasons to attend a conference this year! I challenge you to step outside of your routine, get vulnerable and do the thing, even if it is scary. I promise if you attend a conference, retreat or live event and really open yourself up to the experience, you will reap all the rewards!
